An expedition to visit a remote part of the Gorakh Himal on the border between Nepal and Tibet, and to make the first ascent of an unclimbed 6,000m peak in the Gorakh or Kangla Himal. After an approach of 12 days on foot they reached Kang La on the border. From here they made three attempts on Kangla Kang (6150m), a peak to the immediate east of Kang La. In the worst pre-monsoon weather in Nepal for several years they experienced snow, thunder and lightning during part of each of the 14 days spent above base camp. There was also consistently poor visibility and severe wind-slab avalanche danger. In spite of this they managed to reach a high point of 5650m. This was the first expedition to this part of the Gorakh Himal.
